Upcoming Scrimmages

What's shakin Raider Nation! Which reminds me - don't forget the first meeting of the Raider Nation booster club is tomorrow night (Tuesday, the 28th) at 7pm in the PHS cafeteria. Show your support!

Well, from what I've heard, the Saturday scrimmage against St. Joe's and Paul VI went well. The coaching staff and fans in attendance got a good look at how the fellas are progressing. Some things need work but hey - that's why they call it pre-season! One name that I keep hearing is Marcus "Money" Gaines. It seems that young Gaines has come to play. That's what I'm talking about!

Next up - Salem. The scrimmage is at home at 10am on Wednesday. Then Saturday Schalick comes down the highway - I think that one is at 10am also. I will have Raider Nation membership applications available at both. Unless of course we have scorching blistering weather (or a blizzard with my luck). Everyone repeat after me: "74 and partly sunny.....74 and partly sunny...." That should do it.

St. Joe's Scrimmage

Yea, yea, I know - it's just a scrimmage. And Mohammad Ali was just a boxer!

I can't believe the weather has been in the 60's for the past who knows how long but will it be comfy on Saturday? Noooooooooo.... it's going to be 700 degrees with 200% humidity. I can't catch a break. I am relying on all you clandestine informants to let me know how the fellas stack up. We all know Coach Howard is going into this with one thing in mind - to see how much progress the team has made and where do they need improvement. Sheesh. Don't you just wish for one moment that the man had an ego? Just forget that he's a nice guy and go for it? Yea right. That's why he's Coach Howard and yours and my butts are in the bleachers.

Just in case everyone doesn't know - Kevin Harvey (yes, THAT Kevin Harvey) has joined the coaching staff. I had the pleasure of watching him throw the ball at practice the other day. Talk about dejavu. He may be a few years removed from the game but boy can he still launch a ball.

So whatta ya think? 12-0? I say hell yea! I honestly don't see a weak spot on the field. The line is huge, both offense and defense....young Hodges has been working hard and looking more confident. Lots of RB's to pick from...Carter, Braxton, Greenwald, Gaines and a few more. I think our strongest feature will be quickness - all around. I also think the mini camps held over the Summer have made a world of difference. Instead of starting training camp learning the plays, the fellas already knew the formations and requirements and could concentrate on executing them better.

I'm getting ahead of myself - like that's something new. Saturday, St. Joe's, 10:00am at their game field. Directions to the field are on the south forum posted by sjwildcats. Oh and by the way, I hear Paul VI will be there too. They have a football team?

Are Ya Ready for Some Football??????

Recognize this young man? Let me introduce you.....this petite little guy is none other than Nick Curl. Yes - THAT Nick Curl. Ummmmm, maybe it's just me but I think young Mr. Curl has found his way into the weight room and has made himself comfortable. Sheesh, is he massive or what.

I don't have a lot to talk about right now (won't hear that too often) but I did want to share that image of Nick with everyone. Doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy about the upcoming season? Doubles start in 10, count'em 10, days. The St. Joe's scrimmage is on the 25th at 10:00am at St. Joe's. I'm sorry....the St. Joe's/Paul VI three way scrimmage is on the 25th at St. Joe's. Yea, yea, I know it's "just a scrimmage" but like I said on the forum, a really smart hotdog vendor could retire that day. We all know how Coach Howard approaches scrimmages...to evaluate his team and see what they need to work on. What is he thinking????? Doesn't he understand the trash talk that could be slung???? God Bless'em, that's why he's Coach Howard and my behind is in the bleachers.

For anyone that rises at the crack of dawn, there may be a friendly face or two in the crowd outside of the Today Show on Wednesday morning. I believe it's channel 3 (CBS). So when they pan the crowd outside...look for a tall guy in his Paulsboro gear waving frantically and then cheer for Uncle Bob!!!!! At least that's the plan so I hope he pulls it off. I will be setting the VCR. I'm not a morning person and I gotta see this.

I should start posting regularly once the season gets a little closer. In answer to my own question....hell yea - I'm ready for some football!
